Does BIMI improve deliverability?
Usually not directly. BIMI is mainly a display/trust feature. The deliverability “work” comes from the prerequisites: SPF, DKIM, and an enforced DMARC policy.
Good mental model: DMARC enforcement helps reduce spoofing and abuse. BIMI is the visible reward that some inboxes show when you’ve done the hard part.
Does BIMI itself change inbox placement?
Mailbox providers generally do not promise better placement purely because BIMI is present. It’s not an authentication protocol and it doesn’t change how spam filters score content.
How it can help indirectly
- Authentication maturity: enforcing DMARC improves your security posture and reduces impersonation.
- Engagement: a recognizable logo may increase opens and trust for some audiences.
- Operational discipline: teams that implement BIMI often improve monitoring and alignment.
What to measure after rollout
- Open/click rate changes (segment by mailbox provider if possible).
- Spam complaint rate and user-reported phishing attempts.
- DMARC aggregate reports (alignment and policy impacts).
